Commentary: This print was created for a filmstrip published by the John Henry and Mary Louisa Dunn Bryant Foundation, Los Angeles. The filmstrip was intended for U.S. audiences and contained 59 illustrations by members of the Taller de Gráfica Popular and a script to be read as the filmstrip was advanced. The filmstrip title is sometimes rendered as ¿Quienes quieren la guerra, quienes quieren la paz? (Peter Schneider)
This image appears in frame 22. The script reads: “Los hombres quieren vivir. La clase obrera, los camoesinos y la humanidad entera no quieren ocupar tumbas de guerra. Los planes guerreros serán destruidos y repuuestos por planes de paz, de vida, libertad y democracia.” The English version reads: “Wall Street, hiding itself behind the American flag, will not listen to the cries of the people for bread, work and peace.”
