Commentary: According to scholar Helga Prignitz, this was one of 13 prints by TGP members commissioned by Carmen Toscano in connection with the film Memorias de un mexicano, a compilation of documentary footage of the Mexican revolution from the archive of her father Salvador Toscano. Unlike prints made by Méndez for other movies, the prints do not appear in the film itself but were used in publicity, including posters and newspaper advertisements.
Cataloging note: The image is based on a Casasola photo of Madera entering Cuernavaca, June 12, 1911.
