Cataloging note: This work was created for a competition sponsored by the Universidad Obrera on the 100th anniversary of the death of Polish composer  Frédéric Chopin. Some impressions bear annotations referring to the Auschwitz death camp:  “El Vístula lleva las cenizas de Oswiecim--‘Chopin’” or alternatively “Por el Vístula corren las cenizas de Oswiecim.” Méndez created a companion print, Viento de invierno, also referring to Auschwitz, for the same competition.
