Commentary:  1946 (previously called 1945) was a monthly illustrated political journal produced by a group of left wing Mexican writers and artists led by David Alfaro Siqueiros. Méndez was one of the directors and the members of the Taller de Gráfica Popular were regular contributors. It described its style as a “catalog of posters and manifestos” and its pages were designed to function as wall posters. This drawing accompanied an article entitled “Unidad y deporación del movimiento sindical.” (Peter Schneider)
